Ole-Johan Skrede - PhD candidate at Oslo University Hospital

We have developed an automatic method that predict patient outcome after primary colorectal cancer resection by directly analysing scanned microscope images of thin tissue sections from the resected tumour. Last year we evaluated the performance of the method, and this February our findings got published in the Lancet. In this talk I will present the method, our experiments, and the results.

I am employed at the Institute for Cancer Genetics and Informatics at Oslo University Hospital. At the institute, I develop and implement computer programs related to prognosis and diagnosis of various cancers using digital image analysis and deep learning. I am also associated with the Institute for Informatics at the University of Oslo as a PhD candidate.
