David Holm, Management Consultant at Inventum Serverpark & Inventum Analytics
“Data democratization - puts crucial business information into the hands of those who need it the most”

Cloud computing is making massive computing power available to everyone. That means access to data is finally being democratized within organizations: virtually anyone in a business today can get the insight they need to make data-d...riven decisions at any time and in any place by moving data to the cloud. The flexibility of the cloud makes it a good fit for data analytics. Since the process involves analyzing huge volumes of unstructured data to detect patterns and gain insights for improving strategies, businesses using the cloud can scale their usage on demand and pay accordingly.

ØKT 2. Big Data & Analytics Plattformer

Anne-Sophie Roesssler, Deployment Strategist at Data Iku in Paris ready for Oslo Big Data Day 2016. Raised between Austria, France and London, Anne-Sophie has a European background. Today, as a deployment strategist at Dataiku, she's in charge of helping companies across Europe to address, implement and deploy data driven projects. In this context, she has often worked with data labs, witnessing the many challenges faced by companies in the early stage of such a project.

Her keynote "From aggregation to orchestration: how to become a large-scale data innovator" will focus on these difficulties and the possibility to avoid at least some of them.

The times when data science teams could focus only on building and optimizing models is long past. Across sectors, data science has become a critical component of corporate strategy, and an increasing number of business decisions are being informed (and, in some cases, automatically taken) by its fruits. The major challenge is thus no longer simply building the right models but rather on companies' ability to scale: scale their infrastructure, scale their data prototypes, scale the number of prototypes deployed to production, and, above all else, to scale the their people, both in terms of numbers and in terms of capabilities.

In this keynote, we will go through several use cases to better understand how companies can orchestrate their data work among their people, processes, and tools to build a sustainable data culture and practice for the future. Data Science Studio by Dataiku, DSS, is a software platform that aggregates all the steps and big data tools necessary to get from raw data to production-ready predictive applications.

Martin Berggren Rove, Senior Lawyer at Selmer with expertise within IT/Telecom, IPR & Data Protection Law will Key Note at “Oslo Big Data & Analytics Day” 2016 with the topic: “Big Data, Vast opportunities”. The use of Big Data provides vast opportunities – by navigating properly in the sea of information, the potential for increased growth and revenue is significant.

Recently, Big Data has become a megatrend. One reason for this is that new analytical tools and sophisticate...d algorithms continually are improved and makes it possible to extract relevant information from this tremendous amount of data. Big Data enables businesses to make better decisions based on information that already exists in their enterprise systems. Here lies a great potential for cost savings and tremendous opportunities for increased sales and earnings. Therefore, the understanding of such information, and how it can and should be used, should be a key issue for the management of the business, both the executive management and the board.

As in many other areas of business activity, there are also challenges with the use of Big Data. Technically speaking, the information must be extracted and assembled in an appropriate manner, so that it is optimal for use in marketing and other activities. Also, another particular topic that there is focus on is the protection of privacy issues related to the use of Big Data. The Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) has published its report ""Big Data – protection of privacy principles under pressure".

ØKT 4: OPEN DATA, SIKKERHET, PERSONVERN & DATA KVALITET

ØKT 4: OPEN DATA, SIKKERHET, PERSONVERN & DATA KVALITET

Per Myrseth, Data Scientist at DNV GL Analytic Innovation Center. He will keynote on "Data quality awareness in Big Data, a prerequisite for success".

Does Big Data and Analytics initiatives need a supplement on Data Quality Assessment methodology and tools? When a customer can measure the data quality level according to an agreed scale, it gives the ability to understand how algorithms and analytics may give trustworthy results or not. This knowledge is input to risk assessment of data usage impacting business operations, safety and environment.

So far the methods and tools has been tested out in the IoT space on Maritime and Energy data. Several customers has got some eye openers on the importance of focusing on data quality in the Big Data and analytics space.

Christian Blomquist, Managing Member at Appivo in Sweden, to keynote on "You don’t have to be a developer to build cloud & big data ready apps"

Software is eating the world! Everybody has to become software company, or die!

When software and software usage is exploding as it is today new horizons will open up as IOT and big data will reveal its true powers. With 50 billion connected devices spread upon a population of roughly 7 billion people more data will be gathered then we even can imagine. Business decision will not based on some trends on a street in New York but will be derived from real time data, all around the globe and based on billions of people! IOT and Big Data will make this happen. This though, will create some challenges for the software development industry. With an exploding amount of data that needs interfaces the lack of developers in the developed countries might make the market crumble.

We don´t think so! Let´s create a new type of software developer that can master the awesome power of the cloud and Big Data.

Appivo is a young start-up from Sweden with lots of experience and is an ISV themselves. Christian will share  his experience on their journey and tell us how he forsees the next generation app development and the importance of analytics.
